The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Hearts of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men....

An Indian Prayer

O, GREAT SPIRIT,
Whose voice I hear in the winds
And whose breath gives life to everyone,
Hear me!
I come to you as one of your many children
I am weak, I am small, I need your wisdom
And your strength.
Let me walk in beauty
And make my eyes ever behold
The red and purple sunsets.
Make my hands respect things
You have made and make my ears sharp
So I may understand what you have taught
My people and the lessons which are hidden
In each leaf and in each rock.
I ask for wisdom and strength,
Not to be superior to my brothers,
But to be able to fight my biggest enemy
Myself.
Make me ever ready
So I may come before you with
Clean hands and straight eyes
And as life is fading away
Like a fading sunset,
My spirit may come to you
Without shame.

The Way of the Miracle Worker

The way of the miracle-worker is to see all human behavior as one of two things:
either love, or a call for love....

I am so sorry to do this to you, but this post has been moved to my new website, Two Feathers Reiki hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com, and can be found in its entirety here: The Way of the Miracle Worker

Enlightenment Is Normal

“Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now. Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all. Light is not of the world, yet you who bear the light in you are alien here as well. The light came with you from your native home, and stayed with you because it is your own. It is the only thing you bring with you from Him Who is your Source. It shines in you because it lights your home, and leads you back to where it came from and you are at home.”
~ACIM W.118.1

Enlightenment is normal folks!

The Holy Grail of spirituality is certainly attaining enlightenment. We glorify it and mystify it. It is seen as almost unattainable at best and certainly demands many life times of work to attain.

In fact it is our normal, natural state. If we break it down, being enlightened is about living a life of extending ourselves in love and forgiveness, which I need to qualify. By forgiveness I mean that nothing really happened! It doesn’t mean that I’m big enough to forgive you, which implies that something really did happen! Being enlightened is also about not investing in the daily fears our ego subjects us to.

What? Could it be that simple? Yes it is. The only difficulty is our investment in our ego, which we believe to be real. In fact our body, our job, our perceptions and judgments….this whole life we think we are living is just a charade, all a massive investment we made up to hide our shame because we believe we have betrayed God!

Yet clues and aides to living an enlightened life abound. In fact they are right before us every waking moment of our lives. As soon as we wake up, we have a choice to let the day’s worry fill our space or realize that regardless of what we do, we are and have always been, safe at home with God. We realize that this day is in fact an illusion save the opportunities to offer love and forgiveness.

At work, we interact with our fellow staff and customers. Here we are presented with multiple opportunities to offer only acceptance and forgiveness. When someone is seemingly causing conflict, it is an opportunity for us to extend forgiveness and love because we realize that the other person does not realize who he/she is. By not reacting, we mirror to them who they are and we reclaim another part of our Unified Self. When challenged to assert our self, it is a signal that we have temporarily forgotten who we are and we should be grateful rather than react with attack or defence.

Back at home in the evenings, the news entertains us with stories of terror and loss and the occasional ‘saving a cat from a tree’ story. Notice how we take sides depending on our values and beliefs. Here again is a wonderful opportunity to forgive on a global scale, which is no different to forgiving our family members, work colleagues or clients.

I’ll bet I can hear your mind going through the motions, “Yes, but....there are always exceptions.” In fact there are no exceptions. There are no degrees of error or forgiveness! Herein lays the core of the ego. It loves judgments and degrees of right and wrong, because its whole being is based on duality. So long as you embrace duality you maintain separation from The Unified Self.

Here’s another often spoken statement – “The devil is in the details.” I like this one. For me this is a true statement if I substitute ‘ego’ for devil. The ego is always looking for degrees of right and wrong and levels of love and forgiveness. It constantly looks into the details to find ways of separating you from others and yourself and making you unhappy!

Our illusions of duality maintain our separation from one another and prevent us from seeing our Oneness by keeping us in perpetual conflict. Forever judging and manoeuvring. Just stop for a few minutes and ask yourself how much energy you invest in making and maintaining judgments every day? How much effort is spent on trying to change others perceptions of you? How much conscious effort goes into ‘doing the right thing’ by your partner, workmate, customer? Do you think it’s natural to have to spend so much time and effort maintaining relationships and making sense of your world?

If our natural state is enlightened already, then can you imagine just how much the ego’s belief system has obscured from our awareness? Enlightenment therefore is a demolition project. We can’t get there without dismantling everything we think we know to be real. It’s about unlearning anything that keeps us tied into believing we must maintain control. As Jesus said in the quote, we are not of this world and we are alien here as well. Alien in the sense that our truth is Love and yet we live by the laws of survival of the fittest here in this world...and that is indeed alien to who we are.

There is only here and now. Our Unified Self is already enlightened; everyone is. This is not a state or experience to accomplish through external searching and accumulated knowledge. And it doesn’t come closer just because you’re improving your self-esteem or meditating more. The most difficult challenge to removing the blocks that conceal our enlightenment, is the act of surrender. This is the unconditional acceptance of ‘what is’.

We remember who we are by seeing the Truth in everyone, no matter what their ego projects. While we perceive reality from behind the lens of our false-identity, we haven’t a clue as to ‘who’ we are, nor anyone else! We will find our Self through training ourselves to overlook error in others. As we begin to see others without their ego projections, we’ll be seeing Truth beneath the illusion. Now, watch for the miraculous transformation as our very own enlightened state begins to be revealed.

Clearly, there is no peace where duality resides and how can that be a normal state for us? In truth, we have never left Home and being enlightened is really just remembering who we are and the eternal peace that comes from that space. The Light is within us, always was, is and will be forever more. We need only accept it!

Deep Peace I Breathe Into You

This wonderful Irish blessing
makes a great way to begin and/or end a Reiki session

Deep peace I breathe into you,
O weariness, here:
O ache, here!
Deep peace, a soft white dove to You;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to You;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace from the Son of Peace to you,
Deep peace from the heart of Mary to you,
And from Briget of the Mantle
Deep peace, deep peace!
And with the kindness too of the Haughty Father
Peace!
In the name of the Three who are One,
Peace!
And by the will of the King of the Elements,
Peace! Peace!

The Invitation

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive....

Prayer of Fra Giovanni

There is nothing I can give you which you do not have, but there is much that while I cannot give it, you can take.

No Heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in it today. Take Heaven.

No Peace lies in our future which is not hidden in this present instant. Take Peace.

The gloom of the world is but a shadow, behind it, yet within reach is joy, there is radiance and glory in the darkness could we but see and to see we have only to look. I beseech you to look.

Life is so generous a giver, but we, judging its gifts by their covering cast them away as ugly or heavy or hard. Remove the covering and you will find beneath a living splendor woven of love, by wisdom with power.

Welcome it, grasp it, and you touch the angel’s hand that brings it to you.

Everything we call a trial, a sorrow or a duty, the angel’s hand is there, the gift is there and the wonder of an over-shadowing presence.

Our joys too be not content with them as joys. They too conceal diviner gifts.

And so at this time I greet you, not quite as the world sends greetings, but with profound esteem and the prayer that for you, now and forever, the day breaks, the shadows flee away.

Points to Ponder

One day in 1991 my Highest-Self gave me a series of lessons and Truths which
really didn't mean much to me at the time. Today I saw them again and had many revelations. Here they are for you to ponder too. Enjoy!
  • Remember: Discipline - monitor your thoughts, words, emotions and actions.
  • Harmony in your life is a gauge of the effectiveness of your work.
  • If things are not harmonous or working, look to your thoughts, words, emotions and actions.
  • Put nothing outside of yourself. You create your reality totally.
  • Forget all you have learned in this life.
  • Strive to be the best you can be - for you.
  • Know thyself - be who you are rather than who others perceive you to be or what they tell you to be.
  • Have Faith - know what you think will affect your life.
  • Words can heal or harm; create or destroy.
  • Everything (thoughts, words, emotions, places, songs, etc.) has a vibration. It will either resonate to harmony or discord within you. That which is discordant move away from or change your perception of it.
  • All in life is learned perception - change your mind, change your perception. Coming to a new level of understanding, changes your perception.
  • There is nothing wrong or bad in the Universe - only your perception of it. What appears bad to someone may be a wonderful blessing to another.
  • Only you can be responsible for you - take charge of your life.
  • Your biggest opportunity/challenge, is your soul's loving way of getting you to change your mind. It's like a joke. How loving or peaceful or joyfilled did you think you were - the challenge is humbling, the more pompus your position the bigger the challenge, but it is only perceived. The True challenge is to be fully who you are, in all situations, 100% of the time.
  • Honor others by listening and responding when asked. Everyone has their own level of reality and understanding, offer yours only when asked, otherwise it may be an intrusion.
  • Be loving and compassionate in all things - simply by allowing the fullness of Love and Compassion (which you Truly are) to flow through you.

Life Creed

To be alone, but not lonely.
To desire, instead of crave.
To do with or without, with no effect/reaction.
To give freely, and expect nothing in return.
To do, for the sake of doing.
To stop searching, only listen to our small quiet voice.
To not question everything, just to feel and Know.
To be Now, not in past or future.
To live life with Joy and Love.
To trust and love the self, and show your Truth and Love to all the world.

26 Rules For Living Well

1.All Are Related:
There is a Native American saying, which translates roughly to "All are Related". Everything in the universe is part of The Great Spirit, from a rock, to a plant, to a fish, to a human. The spirit flows between and within us all, and is the building block of everything. Since we are all part of the same whole, we should treat the rest of the whole as if it is part of us, i.e. with compassion and love. We are all part of the Great Spirit, just like all the different leaves on a tree are still part of the tree.

2.The Energy Flow:
The universe is composed of energy. This energy flows between everything, us and within us all. When we have internal blocks, the energy fails to flow correctly, causing illness, lethargy and other symptoms. This energy can be directed consciously, we can see it, and feel it. How we feel affects our energy levels; negativity drains energy, positivity creates energy.

3.We Are Beings of Both Spirit and Flesh:
We are spirits, but at the same time, we are creatures of the flesh. We inhabit both worlds simultaneously, even though we are often unaware of it. We should not shun the flesh for spirit or vice versa. Both are equally important. We have to walk with one foot in each of these worlds, and pay them both attention. Neglecting either world causes distress in the other.

4.No One Entity is Superior to Another:
No one being or creature is any better or greater than another. We are all the same. We are all on different paths and have different levels of understanding, but that does not make any one of us better than another. Humans are not masters of nature, nor the animals and plants. They are our companions, and co-inhabitants of this planet. We are not superior to them, nor do we own them. We should treat them all with respect.

5.Belief Creates:
How we perceive the universe is shaped by our beliefs. If we believe we are in a hurry, then everyone else appears to be going slow. Through belief and positive thought, we can create virtually anything. We should believe in our abilities and ourselves, and we will succeed. We can combine the power of belief with that of visualisation to bring anything into reality.

6.Intuition:
Inside of us, a voice speaks and guides us. It is our intuition. We can choose to ignore it or to listen to it. Once we are in tune with our intuition and start to listen to it, we will be guided and will find that we can achieve more than we thought possible. We will begin to realise that the Great Spirit works through us - often in mysterious ways, but always to our benefit - in the long term.

7.The Higher Purpose:
Everything that happens is for a reason and for the greater good. We have to learn to look at events in our lives from more than just the normal human perspective. We must see them from the perspective of the Great Spirit and to look at what good will come from these events. This is the old maxim of "is the glass half full or half empty". We can look at events badly, half empty, and our reaction will be worse. However, should we look at events better, i.e. half full, then we are more positive, which means our energy is higher, and our reaction will be better.

8.There are No Ordinary Moments:
The past only exists in our memory. The future only exists as our expectation. The only time that really exists is NOW. It is a precious moment and we should treat every single moment as special and live it to the full. By being in the present, we have presence. To live in the now the conscious mind should be quiet and you must focus totally on what you are doing, not what you are going to be doing next week, or what you are going to have for lunch.

9.There are No Limits:
The only limits we have are those we place upon ourselves, or others place upon us. To this end, we should avoid being put in a pigeonhole and labelled by others. If someone views a dog as being vicious, then it is more likely to be vicious. We should hold no expectations of others, and let them be themselves, just as we should be ourselves.

10.Action not Reaction:
If we are tickled, our reaction is to laugh. We should be at a state where we do not react in a situation, but act. Reaction is unconscious, whereas Action is conscious. We should not let past influences affect our actions, e.g. if we were once bitten by a dog, when we next meet a dog, we should not let the past bite affect how we act towards it. There are times to act, as well as times to be still. By living in the present and having control of the conscious mind, we can better direct our action.

11.Positivity Rules:
Negative thoughts attract negative events and drain our energy. Positive thoughts attract positive events and increase our energy. To this end, we should look at our thoughts and the events which happen to us in a positive light, realising negative thoughts for what they are and releasing them.

12.Posture, Pose & Breathing:
Energy flows through the body, as it flows through all things. If the posture and pose are bad, the energy can not flow cleanly and causes blockages, which manifest as pain or illness. We breathe in energy from the world around us. Therefore, our breaths should be deep and full, coming from the bottom of the belly, and not the chest. This enables us to maximise our energy. Deep breathing helps relax us. When we are stressed, angry or afraid our breathing changes and becomes shallow and faster. By consciously controlling our breathing and keeping it deep and even, we can release the stress, anger or fear, enabling us to act consciously in the situation.

13.Everything in Balance:
The universe exists in a state of balance, as should we. We can do anything we wish, but should always do it to moderation, never to excess. Should we do things to excess, then they can become addictive, which drains energy and may become negative. Being balanced allows us to act better in situations. If we are sat on the fence, so to speak, we can jump off either way should we desire to.

14.Intent is Action:
You can intend to do anything, and your intent is important. However, unless the intent is followed with action, then the intent is nothing. As an example. I may intend to get fit, but spend all my time sat in front of the TV eating pizza and drinking cola. I have my intention, but my actions do not confirm or create the intention. Therefore, if you intend something, do it, don't just talk about it. Action turns knowledge into wisdom.

15.Freedom of Choice:
We all have free will, and can choose to do anything we wish. There is no situation where we do not have choice. It may appear that we do not, but there are always options, if we have the courage and strength to take them. We just have to have the courage of conviction to make the decisions.

16.Change Happens:
Change is continuous and is always happening around us. We can not actually perceive change, but can see the end result of it. Change is not a bad thing nor is it to be feared. Through change we can grow and go forwards.

17.Taking Responsibility:
Our actions cause a reaction - it is a law of nature. We have to be aware of our actions and take responsibility for them and for the consequences of them. It is no good doing something and then saying you did not mean to do it. Had you not meant to do it, you would not have done it. By taking responsibility for our actions, so we can take back our power and freedom to choose. We have to accept that no one will live for us, and that sometimes our actions will cause others, or ourselves, a measure of discomfort. Remember though, that discomfort is one way of helping us grow and to show us where changes need to be made.

18.One Step at a Time:
To get to any goal, break it down into a number of small steps. If you have many small successes, then this will lead to a big success. If you aim for a big success straight off, you may fail. Remember that a journey towards any destination starts with a single step, and then a second and a third, and as many as required until you reach that destination. Remember to reward and praise yourself for your successes, however small they are. By acknowledging them, you increase your power and will to succeed, strengthening your belief in yourself.

19.Judgement:
We have no right to judge another for their words, thoughts or deeds. They have the freedom of choice to do as they please and act as they wish, just as we do. We are in no position to judge anyone, as we are imperfect ourselves. It is easily done, for example, you see a big man with tattoo's, a skinhead and wearing leather, and the automatic assumption is that he is trouble. He may be a florist for all we know. This colours our judgement of people and changes how we act towards them. By having no preconceptions of other people, we can interact better with them, and perhaps make a new friend.

20.Integrity:
Integrity is all about how we act when no one is looking. We must live to our own standards and should not judge others by them. This is about living in line with our highest vision despite urges to the contrary.

21.Air Your Doubts:
By airing your doubts, fears, and worries, by looking at them and seeing them for what they are, so you can conquer them and rid yourself of them forever. By refusing to confront them, so they gain power over you, and become even more deeply rooted. After you realise what they are - release them.

22.Failure:
It is very rare for us to fail. We only ever choose to stop trying. That is us exercising our free will. We can stop trying any time we wish, but those that succeed never stop until they get to their goal. Success often does not come easy, and does require work and effort from us. You will find that most 'overnight successes' have been working hard for that success for many years. Failure is not something to be feared or worried about, because we can never fail! Everything we do, no matter whether we view it as a success or failure is a valuable lesson for us to learn. By looking at a perceived failure as a valuable lesson, it no longer feels as bad. The only true failure is not learning the lessons our mistakes teach us.

23.The Ongoing Journey:
Our journey of exploration through life never, ever stops. The destination is not the reward or the goal. The journey to the destination is the goal itself.

24.Don't Mind:
If we take an objective view of our mind, then we can see that lots of thoughts drift through it, many of which we are unaware of. A sad, angry or fearful thought may drift up from the sub-conscious and change how we feel for no apparent reason. We must take control of the mind through tools such as meditation, and become aware of these thoughts and realise them for what they are. Then, we can let them go and stay relaxed and centred. By consciously focussing on our breathing, and keeping it deep and even, we can help to release these negative thoughts.

25.Emotions:
Emotions come and go. They flow through us all the time, often without us even realising. Many of us do not express our emotions because we feel we have to "Be manly" or "Be responsible" or "Be cool". When we feel the negative emotions, we can feel our bodies tense. If we do not express these emotions when we feel them, the tension is stored within our bodies. Having emotions is not to be feared and should be celebrated. When you feel an emotion - express it! If you are happy - smile and laugh, if you are sad cry. Expressing your emotions releases the tension they give, and helps you live more fully in the here and now. Once you have expressed an emotion, it is gone and will not return with the same force for that situation. If we refuse to express them and store the emotions up, then, like damming a fast river, eventually the water level will rise too high if we do not provide it with an outlet.

26.Play:
As children, we play exuberantly. We have fun, enjoy ourselves and have lots of energy. Then something happens, we grow up, and we no longer play believing that adults have to be adult and they don't play. Playing is one of our greatest sources of pleasure. It takes many forms, from sport to games to laughing and joking with friends. Playing increases our energy and makes us more positive. It makes those around us more positive and generally lifts the spirits of all involved. There are times to be serious, yes, but there are times to play too, and that is what we must not forget.

Universal Principles

1. Universal Intelligence's Perfection
I align all the frequencies of my consciousness with the perfectly operating principles of Intelligent Infinity, The All, God.

Intelligent Infinity is inherently perfect and expresses this perfection through Universal Laws which operate at all levels of phenomena, all dimensions of the created worlds.

As human beings, we are created and we function, according to Universal Law expressing itself perfectly in our lives. Not only is each of us perfect, everyone else is also. See/feel the perfection inherent in all things, in all people, and in all situations.

When we see everyone else as perfect, we allow ourselves to experience our own perfection. In this way, we function intuitively without conscious-mind distortion. People and situations respond to us exactly as we see them.

2. Relationship with Source
Seeing and feeling God as unconditionally loving and supportive is the way I experience life: as a totally joyful experience.

I discard feelings of distrust, resentment, doubt, or anger towards God or Universal Intelligence, and my life works perfectly; I realize my ideal.

3. We Start from Completion
I effortlessly and joyfully experience the perfection inherent in Universal Design. The Eternal Now unfolds in my awareness.

Everything in the Universe is already perfect, including ourselves. We don't ever have to do anything to make the Universe or anything in it more perfect.

Whenever we believe we must do anything, it is a signal to remind ourselves of this principle. It is wise to sit down in a quiet place and rest until the perceived need to do anything passes. Anything done out of a sense of need or obligation is inappropriate. Every activity inspired by joyfulness is appropriate.

4. Only the Present Exists
The present is the only time there is. All created forms exist within the Eternal Now.

The past no longer exists. Any time spent thinking about the past keeps us out of the only time there is - the present. As we focus totally in the present, we notice that our intuition (our connection with Intelligent Infinity) guides us perfectly in our interaction with everyone and everything.

5. Oneness
I am one within myself. I am in harmony with spirit. I feel my kinship to all people and all forms of consciousness comprising the body of God. The breath of God breathes through us all as a single organism.

As we release the perception of separateness and difference, we feel the peacefulness, harmony and joyfulness that come from sensing our connectedness with everything in the Universe. We are one.

6. Align with the Universe
I open to the Universal flow of energy moving freely through my body. Alignment with my purpose keeps me aligned with the Universe.

Efforting is a consequence of resisting the Universal flow of energy: it is a clear signal that you are out of alignment.

7. Cause and Effect
I acknowledge the circumstances of my life and know that I am responsible for them. Without judging myself or anyone, I take total responsibility for their creation. I now open myself to have everything according to my ideal.

There are no accidents in the Universe. We always receive what we want. Since many of our wants are subconscious, the only foolproof way to know what we want is to see what we have. Once we are willing to take total responsibility for everything we have and believe that we caused it, we then open to ourselves the incredible opportunity to have everything exactly as we like it.

8. Do What You Love to Do and the Universe Will support You
For my life's work, I will to do that which I love to do. The Universe supports me in all ways for doing what I love to do.

Do what you love to do.

Selecting a career, for example, because it seems like a safe, easy or quick way to make money insures a life that won't work well. When we are off purpose, the Universe draws our attention to it by making things uncomfortable for us. When we are doing what we love to do, the Universe shows it's support in many ways: we feel more alive, things flow smoothly, we attract people and circumstances that support us.

9. Giving and Receiving
I give and receive freely, and through this I feel the abundance of the Universe. In giving to others, I give to myself.

We can only give to ourself. The giver, having given, is now open to receive and the recipient is in a position to give. It is a continuous experience. Giving leads to receiving, which leads to giving. When we believe in shortage, we hold onto what we have; that holding retards the flow to us, and creates an energy blockage which we experience as discomfort.

It is fun to give and receive freely and generously, as we master this principle, we learn that the real challenge is not dealing with shortage, but expanding our willingness to give and receive more generously.

10. Support
I give support and receive support according to the Universal Laws which interrelate all things in our Universe.

The world we live in is designed as a mutual support system. Use it that way. Locate people who will support you and receive your support in mastering the principles involved in having your life work perfectly.

11. Trust
I trust in the Universe's total support of me at all times.

The most important and effective belief you can acquire, to help you master these principles quickly, is trust in the Universe's total support of you at all times.

12. Understanding Body (Physical) Signals
I respect and understand the spontaneous communications of my body. I comprehend the meanings conveyed from my Higher-Mind to my rational-mind via my automatic body signals.

Listen to your body: it is a finely tuned instrument that tells you at all times just how aligned you are with your purpose and the Universe. When you notice discomfort in you body, look for the way you are withholding love and express it. Learn to read your body consistently, for it reveals the state of your consciousness.

13. Align with Highest Thought and Feeling
I align with my highest good. Effortlessly, I open to my highest thoughts and feelings.

Always go for the Highest Thought and Feeling. Since we can have whatever we want, why not go for the ideal? The Universe loves it when we focus on the ideal, and as a reward, the Universe provides us with universal energy to achieve those highest thoughts and feelings effortlessly. The more we support the Universe - by going for the highest good - the more the Universe will support us.

14. Free Will
The will of my Higher-Self merges with and guides the will of my rational-mind. I free myself and all others to unconditionally express according to our inherent perfection.

When deciding what we want, it is important not to interfere with what other people want. We can only choose for ourselves, not for others. The principle involved is an important one - free will. The Universe accords everyone the choice to live life as each wishes. It is not for anyone to make that decision for another person.

15. Non-Judgment
I recognize the limitations of the rational-mind to comprehend all. I allow myself to truly understand through feeling, intuition, and compassion; and I hold no judgments of myself or others. Through forgiveness, I release all energies of judgment.

It is not helpful to judge anything or anyone, including ourselves. Whenever we judge, we lock the energy around the experience, and it stays that way until we release the judgment. We learn to release judgment by forgiving everyone for everything. This allows us to forgive ourselves. It is then that we feel inner peace.

16. Define the Ideal
I acknowledge and release views of reality that are less than ideal. Only ideals of perfection guide my feelings and thoughts in creating the events of my life.

To the extent we are not satisfied with the things we have, we must define what we prefer. Changes in our lives result from changing our beliefs. Shape your life according to your beliefs as they exist now. By defining your ideal on a regular basis, you change your beliefs, and this brings about changes in your life experience.

We can have our life any way we like it, and we must conceive of it in ideal terms before we shall experience it that way. When we feel and see everything working perfectly, it does.

17. What We Focus on Expands
I see with the light of my inner wisdom: and I perceive only light in outer circumstances. In all situations, regardless of appearances, I see only light.

Our perceived need to deal with our problems only attracts more of them to us. The trick is to release the need to see problems and see only solutions. Every perceived problem indicates an unwillingness to see the perfection behind the illusion. We can discipline ourselves to see and feel only abundance, perfection, and peacefulness in every situation.

18. The Universe Handles the Details
Through my faculty of intuitive knowing, I allow Infinite Intelligence to select the details and variables of my life. Without efforting, I open to, and focus on, the present. I do what I love. The Universe specializes in the details of my life.

Our training in struggle and absorbing discomfort on the path to success encourages us to plan our lives in advance. Unfortunately, planning tends to keep us out of the present (the only time that ever exists) and forces us to select only from variables of which we have conscious knowledge. However, there are many variables that, if known, we would eagerly select in place of the ones we have chosen. There is a simple way to locate them. It is through the use of our intuition - our clear connection to Infinite Intelligence.

19. Awareness of Purpose
Awareness of my purpose for being on the planet at this time now manifests to my conscious mind.

Positive thinking is fine, but it must be focused. We create this focus by defining our purpose. Purpose is an answer to the question, "why am I on the planet at this time?" When we align all of our thought with that purpose, life looks different. We notice that everything has meaning and supports us.

20. Releasing the Past, Living in the Present
I now let go of all negative or distorted thoughts and memories. The past no longer exists. I trust the Universe to support me at all times.

It is not necessary for us to process out our negative thoughts; we only have to let go of them. Forgiveness is the means. Letting go means believing that the past no longer exists and cannot be revived. It also means believing that neither you nor anyone else has done anything wrong.

Letting go is a feeling in the body. It means that we trust the Universe to support us at all times. We believe that we don't have to hold on to anything to achieve a sense of security.

21. Means and Ends Are Identical
I align my motives and my means with the highest perception of my heart, my Higher-Mind. I acknowledge my clear intention to harmonize means with ends.

Whatever means we select to achieve a result determines the results. Expressing anger makes us angrier: expressing peacefulness allows us to experience our inner peace and joyfulness.

22. Abundance
I release that which resists the manifestation of abundance in all aspects of my life. I express gratitude for that which I have. I am open to receive.

Keep acknowledging all that you have. Express gratitude for it. The more you focus on the things in life that are working perfectly - joys, health, harmonies in relationships, etc., the more they will increase. Direct your force to the areas of abundance in your life. Practice feeling abundance. Abundance is truly all around us; it fails to flow in our lives only when we resist it.

Allow yourself to give and receive abundantly. True abundance is in infinite supply. The more we give and receive love, the more we open ourselves to receive and give those things which represent love.

23. Feeling
I acknowledge the wisdom of the heart-energy; the intelligence of feeling. I welcome and I honor my own Higher-Mind faculty of knowing-through-feeling.

Once we have embarked upon the path of releasing beliefs that limit us in any way, we reach a point where we focus on experiencing life at the heart, or feeling level, in place of experiencing it at the intellectual, or head level. As we progress, we notice that we need only live life at the feeling or heart level.

24. Only Joy Is Real
I recognize and release the joy within myself. Love-energy expresses through me to all people and all things. Any obstacles to my joy are dissolved. I experience joy by being joyful.

The only real feeling we ever have is joy. Any part of our lives which we experience as less than joyful is an illusion. The energy of Universal Intelligence is not available to support non-joyful, non-loving illusions. Such illusions are sustained by our own will of mind and will of emotions. That is why dealing with illusions is so tiring.

Focus your attention on the quality of life you desire. Quality of life is the feeling that is the setting for the events and the people that pass through our lives. Most of us have buried the joy beneath layers and layers of illusory feelings. It is necessary to keep peeling the layers of illusions away until the joy is uncovered and allowed to fill our being.

The only obstacle to releasing joy is the unwillingness to feel love for someone or something.
